Once again, I quit

Saturday, 15 November: I spent some time looking at weather reports last night, and saw that my future involved rain, snow, strong headwinds and very low temperatures. Realizing that my heart is not in this right now, I called in the cavalry. My dad and stepmom are on their way to pick me up and take me to their place in Alabama, where I will regroup and decide how the rest of my travels will be conducted.

Check back infrequently...

Darn! That sounds so dire.

But yay for the cavalry!

Maybe you should do SE Asia for the Winter and resume our SE coast in Spring. ;)

You deserve a treat.

SE Asia?! I am so dumb. I should have headed that way weeks ago!

Yeah, after all of this time in the Saturday club, I totally deserve a break.

Glad that you still have the smarts to take really good care of yourself. Celebrate your tremendous success and enjoy Thanksgiving with your family. I have really enjoyed reading your blog. It's not only the travelogue, I like hearing about your adventures ( and mis-adventures) and your thoughts and insights into the world around you. Even if you are not pumping your legs on the bike, it would be great if you could pump out a line or two for those of us who have enjoyed your writings. Have fun and take care. I'll keep an eye out for any new postings.

Don't worry, Peg, now that I'm hooked on sharing my life with anyone and everyone, I will still feel compelled to post! And my "tour guide," Ali, has some fun stuff planned so I will be telling you all about the best things Alabama has to offer. And I may make some side trips to random cities like I did from DC, so that will give me more to share. I must do my part to stimulate the economy...

You are a smart lady! I'd have called in the cavalry too. Enjoy the time with your dad and step-mom I'm positive they will take great care of you.

Yup, they are already taking great care of me. And we will be going to the place Beth linked to, so there will be pictures and maybe a post about that!

Hi Cheri,

This is Jenny, one of the 3 cyclists you met in Hingham, MT. I just want to let you know that you kick ass!! I am so proud of you. I was just talking to Chris on the phone (the other rider who wasn't Max) and we were looking over your blog while talking. We are both very impressed with you and your adventure. This is definitely a hard and cold time to be riding. Chris and i are dating and I am planning on moving to Flagstaff very soon to live with him. Life on the bike is a fabulous thing! Your goal was Alabama by Xmas, but I think by Thanksgiving is even better! Take care and thanks for all of the great reading! I will be up too late tonight checking it out I think.

Thanks for the kind words, Jenny! That's such great news about you and Chris! I'm happy for you two. I'm still planning to stop by to see Chris's brother is Birmingham when I eventually get back on my bike again, although I think it will be close to February when that finally happens. And I have family in AZ who I'm planing to see in the spring sometime, maybe we could have another beer together?
